Young Boys Made To Look Old By Manchester United In Champions League Encounter.
Manchester United went on a flying start to this season’s EUFA Champions League Competition as they comprehensively defeated Swiss Champions, Young Boys in their first Group H game played yesterday in Switzerland winning by 3-0.
Paul Pogba stole the show at this match by scoring two beautiful goals to show why top teams like Barcelona F.C. and others are still trying to steal him away from Old Trafford.
Interestingly, the Red Devils had an unexpected nervy start to this game and were lucky not to have conceded an early goal.
They however gradually got into their groove and it was not long before Paul Pogba helped to cool their nerves with his first goal of the game as he scored with a superb shot from some 16 yards out. That happened in the 35th minute of the first half.
Just nine minutes later, Manchester United were two up. Young Boy’s Kevin Mbabu was harshly judged to have deliberately handled Luke Shaw’s cross in the penalty zone.
ManU was consequently awarded a penalty kick that was coolly converted by Paul Pogba who had all the time been a thorn in the flesh of the Swiss Champions.
This same Pogba was once again in the thick of action in the second half as he got involved in United’s third goal also.
He set up United’s third in the 66th minute, laying the ball into the path of Martial, whose right-foot effort from 10 yards was deflected past Von Ballmoos by Camara.
This win sent Manchester United to the top of Group H ahead of Juventus F.C. who defeated Valencia by two goals to nothing in the other group encounter for the evening.
