The issues surrounding Neymar Jnr. and his possible transfer from Paris Saint-Germain is getting interesting by the day as the France capital side who initially demanded £275 million as the release fee have suddenly decided to reduce their asking price to £165 million.
That is a huge £110 million drop in their asking price for the Brazilian striker who has left no one in doubt about his intention to leave the Paris club at all cost. He also has not hidden his desire to return to Barcelona where he feels he will be at home once again.
PSG also announced even though they are ready to hold talks with Barcelona over their interest in signing the player, they are not interested in the inclusion of any Barcelona players in the deal. They are only interested in the cash and nothing else.
The question now is “will Barcelona be able to take advantage of this reduction in the transfer fee?”. Time will surely tell.
It is however no secret that they are eager to re-sign Neymar, who scored 105 goals in 186 games for the club between 2013 and 2017.
It is of note that Neymar has till date not featured for PSG during this pre-season as he is still building up his fitness.
Neymar has remained prolific, as evidenced by the fact that he has scored 51 goals in 58 games for PSG across all competitions.
That however has not stopped him from being heavily linked with a departure from the club throughout the transfer window.
As for Barcelona, they have made three additions to their squad so far ahead of the new season, with Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie de Jong and Neto all joining the club.
