As a result of the fact that Luis Suarez is going to be out of action for a whole four months following a recent operation on his knee, Barcelona has been forced into the transfer market in order to get a solid replacement for the striker.
As is to be expected, many names have been mentioned by different sources as the likely ones to be bought for this purpose. Undoubtedly top of these names however is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is presently the captain of Arsenal. That makes it somewhat unlikely that such a move will go through.
The situation has however taken an unexpected turn in the last 23 hours as the player in question has now reportedly given a green signal for the move to take place.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly given the okay for Barcelona to make a move to sign him. The Arsenal striker took some time to make his mind up, but if you believe Mundo Deportivo then he is ready for the move.
However still, the real question now is whether or not Arsenal will be willing to allow the move to happen. Their willingness to facilitate any move is questionable.
The Gabon striker, who currently earns a basic salary of around £200,000 a week plus huge bonuses at Arsenal after signing from Borussia Dortmund in 2018, is under contract at the Emirates until next summer.
But with the Gunners struggling, sitting tenth in the league, 34 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, Auba may decide to walk away in a bid to challenge for trophies.
AS reported that newly-hired Barcelona boss Quique Setién and sporting director Eric Abidal discussed their striker situation after narrowly beating Granada over the weekend.
Aubameyang would be a more long-term solution for Barcelona so it would be curious what the club would decide to do with Luis Suarez once he’s healthy.
