Marcos Alonso speaks on Chelsea’s up-coming Europa League Final Match Against Arsenal

27th May, 2019

As the D-Day for the final match of this year’s Europa League draws closer, fans and players are beginning to pay some attention to the up-coming event. The latest to speak on it is none other than the hard-working  and ever-overlapping Chelsea defender who goes by the name, Marcos Alonso.

The ever reliable attacking defender is  hoping to carry on his title winning run in a Blues shirt. For the records, Alonso won the title under Antonio Conte, the FA Cup last season and now has the chance to win a European trophy. It is an impressive return but he insists they will have deserved it.

The following is what he said about his Chelsea sojourn so far;

“I have been here two years and won a trophy each year and there is a good chance to get another one – a different one too,” he said ahead of the Europa League final on Wednesday.

“Football is so many different things over a whole season. It’s small details, it’s a whole season, so many games so many different moments. It’s not that simple. But we have worked for it.”

It is on record that Chelsea finished third in the Premier League, clinched Champions League football but they lost the League Cup final on penalties and of recent, Alonso’s place has been under threat from Emerson Palmieri.

Marcos went on to say: “It can change very quickly. In football, one week you are the best in the world and the next week you are the worst, at the end we have qualified for the Champions League.

“We had a good end to the season and hopefully we will bring a trophy back.

“As a player and professional, everything we have to play for, for our families, for ourselves it’s a big game and it’s the chance we have this year to win a trophy.

“The team has worked hard for it, the team has done a great job to qualify for the Champions League.

“We can see how the Premier League is dominating in Europe and it’s been a tough but good year at the end and now a massive chance to win a trophy.”
