Ousmane Dembélé is one of the outstanding players in the last Sunday’s El-Clasico game played at the Camp Nou where he provided the assist for the fifth goal of the game scored by Arturo Vidal, who also came off the bench to play in that game.

However, if rumours reaching our Sports News Desk are anything to go by, the player had been earlier on asked to look for playing options elsewhere as the club was planning to sell him in the winter transfer window.

According to a report credited to Spanish radio station RAC 1, the winger has been the subject of a debate within the club, and was last Thursday, given the order to look for potential buyers.

The report seemed to have been given some credibility when the player was not selected for the Champions League game played against Inter Milan which Barcelona won by a 2-0 margin.

Of course, that was also before the player came off the bench put up a good display in the El-Clasico in which he even assisted n creating the fifth goal for Barca against Real Madrid.

The reports last week stated that the order was not unconnected with the fact that Dembélé had a chronic lateness problem.

However, sources within the club denied the rumor according to Mundo Deportivo. The Barca winger himself reportedly replied to one of the rumours on Instagram with a string of laughing emojis.

The rumor made a bit more sense after the game against Inter Milan, but after Dembélé was given the chance to come on in el clásico and he duly performed well, would the fans accept his sale in the winter? Would such a sale even make sense to anyone at all?

The winger began the season as a starter and had some good showings. With depth a priority for teams wanting to win all big competitions, and Valverde pressured to rotate more than ever, why would Barça get rid of such a talent in the winter, when it’s harder to find a replacement?

The rumour is surely beginning to look like it is simply going to remain a rumour with the way things are presently going. Even if anyone at Barcelona had contemplated selling Osmane Dembélé for any reason before now, such a person is bound to have a re-think in the present situation.
