Some real good news came the way of Barcelona fans just in time for tonight’s first leg clash against Manchester United in the Champions League as Ousmane Dembele has been given the medical all-clear by the team’s medical department.
Dembele who is unarguably a very important player for Barcelona when he is not having disciplinary issues or injured has been absent from the team list for sometime now since he suffered a torn hamstring after coming off the bench against Lyon in the last round on March 13.
It is no longer news that Barca boss Ernesto Valverde accepted he had risked Dembele’s fitness and as a result of his injury, the France international had been expected to miss both legs of the quarter-final against United.
However to the surprise and joy of many fans, the forward returned to training earlier than expected and has been included in Barca’s travelling squad for Wednesday’s first leg at Old Trafford.
He has consequently been passed fit for the game following a training session on Tuesday.
The return of Dembele to match fitness is a welcome boost for Barcelona as they try to win the treble, having reached the Copa del Rey final and virtually guaranteed the LaLiga title by defeating nearest rivals Atletico Madrid at the weekend.
It is worthy of note that Ousmane Dembele has scored eight LaLiga goals and a further three in the Champions League this term, with Barca seeking to reach their first final in the competition since 2015.
Meanwhile here is the list of the players that were taken to Manchester United for tonight’s game
Ter Stegen, N. Semedo, Piqué, I. Rakitic, Sergio, Todibo, Coutinho, Arthur, Suárez, Messi, O. Dembélé, Malcom, Lenglet, Murillo, Jordi Alba, Prince, S. Roberto, Vidal, Umtiti, Aleñá, Iñaki Peña.
