The next El-Clasico in Spain takes place this weekend as F.C. Barcelona hosts perennial rivals Real Madrid in the first leg at the Nou Camp.
Even though many people are already doubting the ability of this fixture to rise to the level it used to, some players are are sure that it will still be a match filled with lots of fireworks on the field of play. One such player is none other than Barcelona’s Luis Suarez.
For the first time in as many as ten years, the El-Clasico will be played with the two main stars of the clash – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo missing in action. This has undoubtedly doused the expectations of many football fans as far as the match is concerned.
However, one of the players who is expected to make things happen at the encounter, Luis Suarez of F.C. Barcelona has come out to say that he is still expecting fireworks in Sunday’s El Clasico, despite Real Madrid’s recent struggles.
Barca go into the clash with a slender one point lead over Espanyol at the top of the table but their recent run is not great with just one win in five in La Liga.
Their opponents from the capital city are no better as they have not won a game in their last four games in LaLiga and naturally as a result, there are already rumours making the rounds that this could be Julen Lopetegui’s final game in charge as the Bernabeu hierachy weigh up axing the head coach.
Despite all of the above facts however, Luis Suarez is expecting the match to be as explosive as usual. As far as he is concerned,
“El Clasico is always El Clasico.
“Look at El Clasico last year; we were practically champions already but the intensity was the same as in any Clasico. It’s like that, you’re always up for it.
“You do have to look at the teams’ most recent results but the Clasico is the Clasico and nobody thinks about the other team’s morale or if they’ve been playing badly or better.”
