The current relationship challenge between Manager Jose Mourinho and ManU defender Eric Bailey is surely not getting better in any way as the Ivorian has been reported as saying he wants to leave the club.
The whole saga started with the public criticism of the centre-back by the manager after the defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Consequently, Mourinho went on to choose the partnership of Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof to start their game against Watford on Saturday.
As it stands, the manager seem to have relegated the player to the bench by dropping him from the starting eleven of the team. That has not gone down well with Bailey and he has been quoted as saying he wants to leave the club.
As is to be expected in such situations, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both said to be monitoring the situation carefully with keen interest, hoping to be able to cash in on the situation where possible.
Of the two, it is Arsenal who probably need the player more as they could certainly use Bailly to add some quality to their much-criticized defence.
Spurs on the other hand, are still not very sure that they will be able to retain the services of Toby Alderweireld what with the interest in him coming from Manchester United and should such a situation arise again they might be tempted to offer an exchange deal.
That in itself, makes them favourites to get the player if he truly decides to leave ManU anytime soon.
So far, the centre back made 60 appearances for Manchester United since joining the club in 2016, and his current contract runs until the summer of 2020.
