It is no longer news that F.C. Barcelona has acquired the services of Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich. What is news is that he been formally presented to the media and asked to target the treble like the rest of the Barca team.
The presentation was done by the Barcelona Sporting Director, Eric Abidal who refused to talk on any other business such as speculations concerning more Barcelona signings to come.
Vidal is the second midfielder brought in by Barca after earlier on securing the signature of Arthur. So, it is a combination of Arthur and Arturo for the Barca midfield. All of that is as a result of Barca’s bid to fill in the gap left by the departure of Andres Iniesta and Paulinho.
Abidal was not in any way ready to talk about a host of names mentioned as possible Barcelona signings as he simply told the news men that “The most important thing is to have Arturo here.”
He went on to say “We don’t talk about players that are not part of this club. I cannot comment on that. We have a good, complete squad. We want to win the treble if possible.”
When asked about the speed with which Barcelona got the player ahead of Inter Milan who were close to signing him at the time, Abidal had this to say:
“I do not know if we are moving fast or not. We have a team working together, putting names on the table and making decisions from there. It is always better to move as soon as possible, but we have to adapt to decisions.”
Getting no success with Abidal, the media men decide to try their luck with Arturo Vidal as they asked him about the possibilty of Pogba joining Barca from Manchester United, but he laughed and replied:
“I do not know anything about that. I’m just happy to be here and sign the contract.”
