The famous El-Clasico is here again as Barcelona hosts Real Madrid in what is the first leg of 2018 / 2019 Season’s duel. This is one of those matches that brings history, rivalry, and two of the most star-studded sets of players in the world game.
This is however the first time in many years that the El-Clasico will be played without its two main gladiators – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. While Ronaldo has since left Real for Juventus, Messi misses the game with a fractured arm.
Both teams are not exactly in the best of forms right now, but Barca seem to have a slight advantage. However, regardless of form, stars missing, coaches under pressure, this is a crazy good game to watch. It always has been and it always will be.
This a match involving the two biggest clubs in the sport fighting for domestic and European supremacy. This has all the ingredients of a classic, and every game seems to be that in recent times.
After going for four games without a win, Barça won 4-2 against temporary Liga leaders Sevilla last week to regain top spot. On the other hand, the troubles have continued at Real Madrid, who have only won once from their last seven games and have lost three of their last four (to Sevilla, Alavés and Levante). If they lose this match, they could drop as low as tenth.
Aside from Messi, Barça are missing the injured Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen, while the only unfit Real Madrid player is Dani Carvahal.
Both teams’ possible line-up for this match:
Barcelona (4-3-3): Ter Stegen; Roberto, Piqué, Lenglet, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Arthur; Rafinha, Suárez, Coutinho
Real Madrid (4-3-3): Courtois; Nacho, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Bale, Benzema, Asensio
