Eden Hazard has been rewarded for his star performances so far this season as he was named the Premier League player of the month for September. The 27-year-old has been very instrumental to Chelsea’s success and position on the league table and has scored five times in just four matches so far.
It will be recalled that he also scored a hat-trick in the 4-1 thrashing of Cardiff as Maurizio Sarri’s Blues remained unbeaten.
Hazard won the award ahead of other competitors such as Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson and Leicester’s James Maddison.
The Chelsea talisman has had a solid beginning to the new season and is currently the Premier League’s top scorer, with seven goals and has also been named on the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or.
The other winners for the month of September include Daniel Sturridge, whose stunning long-range effort wrecked Chelsea’s chances of a 100 per cent month. He took the award for September’s best goal.
Then there is the Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo who was handed the manager of the month award, after they took 10 points from a possible 12, keeping three clean sheets in the process. The newly promoted team claimed three wins and a draw and are now seventh in the table.
