Cristiano Ronaldo continue to wait for his first goal for Juventus in Seria A as he played his third consecutive game for the Italian Champions in a game against Parma yesterday. The match played away from home ended 2-1 in favour of Juventus but Ronaldo could not find the back of the net once again.
In the game itself, Juventus had to really work hard to achieve victory as they came up against a Parma team that was determined not go down without a fight. And fight, they really did.
Early in the game, it had looked like Juve was going to have an easy game as Mario Mandzukic scored their first goal just after two minutes into the match. But when Gervinho scored the equaliser in the 33rd minute, it was clear Juve was in for a helluva of a game.
Mario Mandzukic scored when he met Juan Cuadrado’s pinpoint cross and beat Simone Iacoponi to the loose ball to stab it into the net, but Parma made life difficult for their esteemed guests until the former Croatia international showed up again to set up Blaise Matuidi’s winning goal later in the game.
Parma matched the reigning champions guts for guts for a large part of the game. The home team even had chances to go ahead in the first half but wasted them.
However, Juve showed they were the more experienced team as they gradually took control of the game in the second stanza and this was crowned with success in the 58th minute as they reclaimed their lead and ultimately won the match just before the hour-mark as Mandzukic smartly flicked the ball into Matuidi’s path and the France international provided a superb finish from a very tight angle.
Juventus with this win has ensured a perfect start to the season for themselves having won all their games so far scoring seven goals and conceeding three in the process.
And as for Cristiano Ronaldo, this is not the first time that he has had to start a season slowly as far as goal scoring is concerned. The kind of quality he has is such that no one will be surprised if still gets to end this season as one of the highest goal scorers in the Serie A and even in the Champions League.
