In what would be Cristiano Ronaldo’s first home game for his new team, Juventus F.C., the opponents could not have been more mouth-watering, with the almighty Lazio visiting today in a 2018/19 Serie A match that cannot but produce real time explosive exchanges on the field of play.
Lazio is well known as one of the most attacking-minded teams in Europe and will surely give Juventus a real run for their money despite being the team playing away from home.
Juventus naturally will go out for an outright win in this game but will surely find Lazio a serious nut to crack.
As expected of someone like Ronaldo, he will want to use this game to show what quality he is made of and will be aiming to score his first Serie A goal for Juve. The chances that he will do so are quite high especially since he fired a blank in their first game of the season away to Chievo Verona.
In that game, it was easy to see that Cristiano Ronaldo still does not know his teammates very well and will surely need some matches to do so before he can get down to the business of scoring goals on a regular basis.
The home team will however have to up their game in comparison to the last match if they are to be able to overcome Lazio today. They will have to avoid the complacency noticed in that game against Chievo and improve seriously on their team work if they are to avoid some embarrassment from today’s opponents.
On a positive note, the home team goes into this game today virtually at full strength with Leandro Spinazzola as the only Juve player that has been ruled out.
The visitors had a rough start to the season as they came up against Napoli in their very first match in a game that they eventually lost 1-2 even though they did put up a good performance.
Even though the odds are stacked against them in today’s game, they have the players that can spring surprises. How well they are able to handle the “Ronaldo threat” will surely go a long way in determining what they get out of this game.
Lazio will be missing some players for this game. Ricardo Kishna and Luiz Felipe are definitely out. Valon Berisha and Adam Marusic are injured and will require a late-fitness test to determine their availability.
