The result of this match was surely one that very few people saw coming and many would not have believed its possibility especially after the way Chelsea played in their league game before this one.
Funny enough, that is the same reason why some of us saw this result coming.
For all those who paid close attention to the angry words that came from Maurizio Sarri after that game, it was very clear that the only thing that would calm his feelings is nothing but victory over Manchester City. That is exactly what he got too.
Chelsea came out in a clinical approach to the game and defeated the reigning and undefeated champions, Manchester City by two goals to nil.
One goal in each half from N’golo Kante and David Luiz helped Chelsea bounce back from their 2-1 loss in midweek to Wolverhampton Wanderers, the game that got Sarri seriously fuming.
As was to be expected, Manchester City who had not lost a Premier League game in eight months dominated the opening 45 minutes, creating chances against The Blues but were however unlucky to go into the break a goal down.

The visitors had wasted a couple of chances to open the scoring before that, firstly through Raheem Sterling when he failed to get enough on his finish to beat Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal for Chelsea.
Then came Leroy Sane who tried to break the deadlock twice in quick succession after that as he first saw an effort from a tight angle saved by Kepa before being thwarted by a fine last-ditch block from Cesar Azpilicueta some minutes later.
Chelsea had not had a shot on goal as the clock ticked into the last minute of the first half, but Eden Hazard somehow picked out N’Golo Kante, who slammed his finish into the roof of the net past a helpless Ederson in goal for Manchester City.
The visitor’s keeper was forced into his first save of the match just four minutes after the restart when he parried Willian’s free-kick away from danger.
Chelsea however doubled their lead with 12 minutes remaining when David Luiz met Hazard’s corner with a fine header which looped into the far corner of the visitor’s net through the underside of the crossbar.

Manchester City’s 21-match unbeaten streak therefore came to an end, leaving them just a point behind new Premier League leaders Liverpool, who had won their match in an early kick-off, and who are now the only remaining unbeaten team in the top fight this season.
Chelsea, meanwhile, move back into the top four having extended their incredible unbeaten start at home under new manager, Maurizio Sarri.
