Barcelona’s Captain Lionel Messi Injured. Out For 3 Weeks.

21st October, 2018.

A mini tragedy struck at the Camp Nou yesterday in the game between F.C. Barcelona and Sevilla F.C. in a La Liga top fixture which the hosts won by 4-2 as the Barca captain got seriously injured and had to leave the field of play as early as in the 26th minute of the match.

Messi had earlier on fallen badly on his arm and was later discovered to have fractured the radial bone in his right arm. Reports say that the mercurial striker is very likely to be out of action for a period of up to three weeks or more.

As a result, the Barca captain will very likely miss the team’s next crucial games which include their Champions League clash against Inter Milan, the El Classico against Real Madrid, a Copa Del Rey game against Cultural Leonesa  and other games.

Probably the most hit of these games is the El Classico which will for the first time in a long while now take place without the two main actors, Lionel Messi and Crstiano Ronaldo. The match is surely going to be a shadow of its usual self.

However while speaking to media after the team’s 4-2 victory over Sevilla, the Barca coach, Ernesto Valverde said although Messi’s inaction would be a major loss for the Barcelona side, the team has the necessary pool of talent to cover for the absence of the injured captain.

By virtue of the win against Sevilla, Barcelona has now moved back to the  top spot of the La Liga.
