Barcelona F.C. this evening begins another journey in their quest to win the European Champions League as they take on champions of the Netherlands PSV Eindhoven in their first group game of this year’s competition.
The match is slated to take place at the Nou Camp today in an early kick-off.
The home team go into this year’s competition with renewed hopes of capturing the title after a summer of strong investment and the very interesting transfer moves around Spain and Europe that seem to have made the European Cup somewhat more wide open for this season.
Even though today’s opponents are not one of the favourites to qualify from the group, they are surely no push-overs and any team that underrates them will only do so at their own peril.
The team is coming into this game on the back of a whopping combined score of 13-1 in their last two Eredivisie games. That should say something not just about their attack but the whole team generally.
They are not a team to be taken for granted. They are more than good enough to cause Barça plenty of problems.
All the same, Barcelona are obviously favorites to win this game, especially at their home base where they’ve not lost for 26 games, winning 24 of them.
It is also expected that Philippe Coutinho will finally make his Champions League debut for Barça, and the Brazilian might just be the missing ingredient as the Catalans look to conquer Europe again. We start to find out if that’s true in just a few hours away.
So,how are both teams likely to line up for this evening’s game? Here below are our expectations in that regard.
